Asthma
Ready to breathe easier and live life to the fullest? At Majmudar Allergy, we’re dedicated to helping you take control of your asthma and enjoy every moment without the burden of respiratory symptoms.
Understanding Asthma: What You Need to Know
Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that affects the airways in the lungs, causing inflammation and narrowing of the air passages. This narrowing makes it difficult for air to flow in and out of the lungs, leading to symptoms such as:
- Shortness of breath
- Wheezing
- Coughing, especially at night or early in the morning
- Chest tightness or pain
Asthma symptoms can vary in severity from person to person and may be triggered by various factors, including:
- Allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, or mold
- Respiratory infections like the common cold or flu
- Exercise or physical activity
- Irritants such as smoke, strong odors, or air pollution
- Changes in weather or temperature

What is Asthma and How is it Treated?
Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that causes inflammation and narrowing of the bronchial airways. It often results in symptoms like wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
Asthma is typically triggered by inhaled allergens and irritants that set off an allergic reaction in the lungs, though other nonallergic cases occur as well. At Majmudar Allergy, we provide complete evaluation and care for asthma patients.
Dr. Majmudar might recommend allergy skin or blood testing to pinpoint specific things like pollens, pets or dust mites that could be triggering an allergic reaction in the lungs when inhaled. Pinpointing your specific allergy triggers is crucial, as avoiding exposure to those irritants whenever possible is the best way to prevent asthma flare-ups from occurring in the first place.
Dr. Majmudar also educates patients on trigger avoidance measures to help control environmental exposures. To manage asthma symptoms, we prescribe a rescue inhaler and if warranted a maintenance daily steroid inhaler to decrease swelling in the lung airways.
If inhaled options alone don’t fully control flare-ups, Dr. Majmudar may add biologic injections to help strengthen breathing function over time. At Majmudar Allergy, our goal is to fully evaluate what factors trigger or worsen each patient’s asthma in order to customize the best medication regimen possible.
This tailored combo therapy enables our team to treat both the underlying inflammation as well as provide quick relief when needed. Dr. Majmudar closely follows patients in the office to monitor if the current regimen is effective.
We believe in empowering our patients with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their asthma effectively. We provide comprehensive education on asthma management techniques, including proper inhaler use, recognizing early warning signs of an asthma attack, and developing an asthma action plan.
